ADRIAN + CHAN TURNER

Adrian

I have had an active passion for growing, foraging and propagating mushrooms for many years. From foraging Chanterelles in the Oakland hills in California to collecting wild Reishi from the East coast in Maryland; from hunting bolete in higher elevations and blond morels in the creeks of the Rocky Mountain foothills, it’s been an amazing learning opportunity and a very rich family experience! I'm very excited to bring my love for mycology, lab work and clean culture expansion forged with a genuine love for mushrooms and nature to this exciting market! Our intent at “The Works” is to provide a very clean, vigorous and productive service for our fellow mushroom lovers!

After the kids were born, we started to go camping and hiking as often as we could. We started to come across many well known edible types of mushrooms in the Rocky Mountains Colorado and wanted to be able to confidently identify and safely eat them. We joined as many mushroom groups as we could and were active in online forums and community groups for foraging and identification.

As a family we started learning the environments and conditions best for finding mushrooms and off we went! Now the kids are able to ID our main forageable species and the hound dog Elliott even gets in the hunting action with a special knack for finding and leading us to Bolete and Oyster mushrooms!

We have been growing our own mushrooms for a few years now and we are excited about currently scaling up the operation to a more commercial size and offering our tried and true mixes and products to other mushy enthusiasts!
