Commonly called the “Jelly Ear” or “Wood Ear” mushroom, Auricularia americana gets its common name from the obvious shape of the fruits resembling the shape of a human ear. It has an amazing ability to be fully desiccated then fully reconstitute back to its jelly form with a bit of soaking in water!
Grows well on composted pine sawdust (specifically rubber tree) and amended straw substrates (Faster!).
Spawn on sawdust or straw at 75-85 DEG. F for ~3 weeks
Fruit on sawdust or straw at 70-85 DEG. F until harvest with low light or indirect sunlight for 12hrs. a day.
